The USAF declared an operational emergency when sinkholes near the 10,000-foot runway forced its closure. Brice was awarded the design-build contract to repair the failing runway structure. We demolished and removed two 1,800-LF steel culverts running beneath the airfield. We diverted Clover Creek through 32,000 feet of 18-inch HDPE pipe operated with electrical pumps while creating an engineered creek bed in place of the culverts. We installed an 1,800-LF bridge for fish passage, covered with fill, and repaved the runway, taxiway, and apron, totaling over 60 acres of disturbed airfield restored to a ready-to-use condition 25 days ahead of schedule.
