Brice, Inc. successfully completed the Togiak Airport Resurfacing and Lighting Replacement project, with a contract value of $6.4 million, overcoming significant logistical and environmental challenges in the remote coastal city of Togiak, Alaska. With advanced blasting technology and adaptable mobile rock drills, Brice produced nearly 70,000 tons of high-quality material, while working closely with the local community and the Alaska Department of Transportation to ensure the project stayed on track within the short construction season. Innovations like an intermediate stockpile location and creative phasing allowed work to continue despite adverse weather conditions and shipping delays. Brice also prioritized safety, using digital tools to monitor job site safety and implementing a dust control plan to protect the local community.
The project benefited the city beyond the airport, with Brice employing over 50% local workers, providing construction materials for city development, and maintaining strong community ties. Through effective communication, sustainable practices, and a commitment to safety, Brice left a lasting positive impact on Togiak and its residents.
